Have been experimenting with enamels and oils and am now stripping the Mig back for the 2nd time :0( It all got a bit too dark and OTT. 3rd time lucky eh! Will post pics when I get it right ;0)

4th time lucky.... well I hope so anyway. This is the closest I have got yet to a believable eroded aluminium finish. It's still looking a bit "galvanised steel" but I can't keep redoing the blasted thing. Just the accessories, landing gear and flashes of blue paint on the cowling and landing gear doors to do and I can call it a day on this one. Might knock up a small base too.

Thanks John. I'm only half convinced myself. Will try to get a bit more done this weekend.

I am impressed with your weathering of this Mig and the desert setting. It really does look like corroded, stained aluminum. My next statement is an observation not a criticism. If I was at a model competition and going down the tables of aircraft I would stop and look, hey, this is different. Then I would want more to finish the story. Might I suggest a figure with a camera or a trail bike and rider. Cheers Eh!

Thanks. Agree with you on the scene missing a story. I'll check out availability of some 1:48th figures. A mountainbike might be tough to find though
