Hi everyone. My name is Graham, just the wrong side of 60 and have been average modelling for many years off and on. One thing I have never done even slightly well is to build a diorama. It is now my wish to do this and I like the idea of abandoned, wrecked or scrap. I will admit that this is partly because I am rubbish at painting figures. what I intend to do is selfishly learn from you guys and think up a scenario for my first diorama. I have sufficient kits in the stash to come up with something. At the moment, an old Italeri 1/24 Opal Blitz is looking a prime candidate but it may be a bit of a cliché. I have a lot to learn, getting the worn and dilapidated finish being prime but I also want to base this project on a fairly decent scenic base. Brilliant site and forum, loads of talent that I can aspire to even if I never achieve that level but I am going to give it a damned good try

Hiya Graham and welcome to the new scratchmod Wreck & Rust forum. We are of to a slow start but am sure that more will find the forum in due time. The Opel is a great choice to start with. Actually any civilian vehicle is great to start with. Scrap metal things are also perfect to try techniques and improve the rusting and chipping skills.
Looking forward to seeing that Opel posted here. Any questions just fire away and we will gladly help you out.
Cheers Rob
