My name is Nick Allen, I'm 64 and my main hobby is model making. The tag (southsix1) comes from the call sign of the first fire engine I rode as a fireman in Liverpool during the early 70's. I enjoy weathering my builds but just when you think you've done enough there's always something else to do on a model. I also enjoy photography and I use the camera to record detail for my builds, I have several shots of rusty or weathered trucks which I'll share with you in due course.
Incidentally this was the fate of that first ride, 1786 KC a Dennis F24 Pump Escape was taken along with several other 1950's appliances to a scrap yard in Hawarden near Chester and given the gas axe treatment ...
