Mig AMMO - Rust acrylics and enamel effectsI received a package from AMMO - USA with some of their recent releases and some of which are rust acrylics and enamel wash effects. My initial thoughts were that these would be the same as the AK line of rust colors and effects so I hadn't really planned a review for them since I had used the AK products before and had already written a review on them. Instead I used a section of a model I am working on, the M4 HST rustbucket, and see how the products look. Much to my surprise these AMMO products are not like the AK line. The AK products are nice, but the acrylic color set I had never dried to a matt/flat finish, not the case with these AMMO rust colors. I used two of the colors and they dried dead flat. The wash and streaking effects were the same, nice and flat and all colors were pretty much dead on to actual rust. Here are a few images of what was achieved with them.

I've been wandering what, if any differences, there would be between the new line and AK's. Good to know and can really see the differences.

Hope to get some to try out this year. They are getting a good reputation already.

The one big difference I have found in the two is that the new AMMO range of colors actually dries flat/matt. I have rust colors from both (and Lifecolor,K4,Vallejo) and so far I like the AMMO over the AK stuff.
